Vauxhall Cresta

Vauxhall Cresta - Plastic Toy Car with Gyro Motor - Length  20 mm - Made in England by Welsotoys.

Very nice model of a 1957 Vauxhall Cresta in self coloured blue plastic with tinplate base and bright tinplate bumpers, grille, headlamps and Vauxhall bonnet "flutes". The interior tinplate pressing is colourfully lithographed to represent  the dashboard and two tone leather upholstery as found on the luxurious Cresta. The box for this toy states that it was made by in Gt. Britain by A. Wells & Co. Ltd., Walthamstow, London E17

This is a lovely old toy and a very good model of a car which was once a common sight on British roads and is now sadly quite a rarity. I grew up with cars like this and thought that they were wonderful.
